On Thursday, August 6, FMP held the inaugural class for the course “Legal Practice VI – Mandatory Internship.” The session took place at 5:00 p.m. in the institution’s auditorium and marked the start of a semester focused on hands-on professional experience and exposing students to real-world legal situations.
A total of 71 students are enrolled in the course, which is part of the practical training component of the law program. During the inaugural class, students received information about how the course works, the projects planned for the semester, and the learning opportunities offered by the Center for Legal Practice (NPJ). The session also provided an opportunity for students to meet and get to know the staff who will be supervising their activities throughout the internship.
For Professor Frederico Freitas, coordinator of the undergraduate law program and the Center for Legal Practice at FMP, the first meeting was marked by the students’ interest and curiosity about the experiences they will have throughout the semester. “It’s a course that will require commitment and dedication, and at the same time, it’s a transformative experience,” the professor notes. According to him, the program allows students to engage with realities different from their own and to observe real-world situations, participating in client consultations and the drafting of legal documents.
During the internship, students will have the opportunity to follow real cases, assist people with specific legal needs, and develop legal alternatives and solutions for these situations, linking the knowledge they’ve gained in the classroom to the challenges encountered in professional practice. “It’s a time when they’ll be able to experience realities that are completely different from their own and also work on real cases, interacting with real people facing real problems,” explains Frederico.
The coordinator expects the semester to be marked by hard work, learning, and positive experiences. “Let’s move forward to another semester of Legal Practice, the mandatory internship,” he concludes.
