FMP Research Lines

The academic research conducted at FMP is organized around two broad lines, which guide scientific projects, research groups, and institutional events. Both are aligned with the Institution's mission of promoting the enforcement of non-negotiable rights and strengthening the Democratic Rule of Law.

FMP's research lines engage with contemporary, structural issues in Brazilian Law, ranging from State action to the protection of collective rights, always focused on social transformation, institutional improvement, and the building of legal solutions that meet society's needs.

Research Lines

Line 1: Protection for the Enforcement of Unconditioned Public Rights

This line focuses on studying and proposing legal mechanisms that ensure the protection of public rights that cannot be waived or relaxed. Projects linked to this line investigate topics such as:

Public policies aimed at promoting citizenship and access to justice

The role of the Public Prosecutor's Office and other institutions essential to justice

Corruption and institutional pathologies

Defense of the environment and diffuse interests

Public safety and the fight against crime

The central focus of this line is the pursuit of effectiveness for rights that require the presence and action of public authorities, whether in policy-making or in oversight and social control.

Line 2: Protection for the Enforcement of Transindividual Rights

The second research line is dedicated to the study of rights that transcend individual interest, involving communities, vulnerable groups, or society as a whole. Priority topics include:

Sustainability and collective environmental defense

Conflicts and collisions between fundamental rights in the collective sphere

Transparency, the right to information, and social control

Protection of consumer rights and consumer relations

Democratic participation and the strengthening of civil society

This line broadens the scope of legal analysis to include complex issues that call for collective, multidisciplinary approaches and institutional responsibility.

Participation and Operation

Participation and Operation

FMP's research lines are open to the participation of undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and outside researchers linked to the Institution's research groups. Each project linked to these lines contributes to the Institution's academic education and scientific development, while promoting critical debate and the improvement of legal practices.
